The Akshaya Patra Foundation inaugurated a new state-of-the-art centralised kitchen in Gorakhpur on 25 June 2026 adding significant milestone in its 25th year. The newly inaugurated facility is designed to prepare and serve 1 lakh hot, nutritious and wholesome meals to children in Gorakhpur and surrounding regions under the PM POSHAN Scheme.
The new facility will now enable Akshaya Patra to increase its outreach to 55,000 children from 546 schools and, in a phased manner, further expand its services to 100,000 children across 1,570 schools.
Honourable Chief Minister - Shri Yogi Adityanath graced the occassion as the Chief Guest and was joined by Honourable Minister of Primary Education - Shri Sandeep Singh in formally inaugurating the facility. The event reflected the collaborative spirit underpinning this initiative—a partnership between the Government of India, Government of Uttar Pradesh and The Akshaya Patra Foundation. Representing The Akshaya Patra Foundation were Shri Chanchalapathi Dasa, Co-Founder and Vice Chairman; and Shri Bharatarshabha Dasa, National President and Trustee.
The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the Vice Chairman of Akshaya Patra addressed the audience and stressed on the importance of nourishing children education and contributing towards a well-nourished, well-educated and developed India. Built on the foundation of PM POSHAN, this kitchen in Gorakhpur will contribute to improved school attendance, stronger nutritional outcomes and enhanced educational achievement across the region.
